Vaseline Intensive Care Cocoa Radiant Lotion

During the winter my skin gets really dry and chapped, I need to moisturise every day to make sure it remains hydrated and looking healthy. I plough through moisturisers like there is no tomorrow and I feel like I have become some what of a body lotion connoisseur.

Vaseline is a brand mostly known for their lip balms, while I am not a fan of those at all I do love this body lotion. It is a good every day lotion that absorbs fast, so I can apply it in the morning and don't have to wait around forever before I get dressed, yet it moisturises really well and leaves my skin feeling soft and looking glowing.

Though it is Cocoa butter I don't find this lotion smells all that much, its no where near as fragrant as any of the body shop lotions or butters, it just has that classic body lotion scent. Which is good if you apply your moisturiser after your morning shower like me, as it doesn't effect any perfume or body spray you may put on after getting dressed.

This is an affordable but effective, no fuss body lotion that would work well for anyone trying to tame their dry winter skin, and doesn't want to spend a fortune doing so.

Flamingo Candles

If I'm being honest, Flamingo Candles are a totally new brand to me, which is weird as they are made in South Wales....where I live haha. I heard about these candles through a Twitter post, and they intrigued me enough to looked into them and I fell insistently in love. The funky packaging really drew me in, I love the jars, the design, and the fact they come with a screw on lid. Unlike Yankee candles which have the stopper style lid that I always forget about, and I then end up dropping my candle on my hand due to it falling off, ouch.

Flamingo Candles are some of the quirkiest looking candles I have owned, they look so nice in pretty much every room in my house, and they come in a large range of fragrances. These candles are even more unique as they are made with Soybeans and cotton wicks, and they are non toxic and clean burning candles. Which makes them a lot safer for us to breath in, and are kinder to the environment, which is always a plus.

 As soon as I found these candles online I placed an order for two jar candles. The first of which was Macaroon and Almond High Tea, the cream coloured candle in the photo. Then I stumbled across Cheesecake Crunch, the purple candle, and I could not say no. Anyone that knows me will know I love, no I adore cheesecake, so a candle that says it smells like cheesecake couldn't be passed up.  I know sweet smells are defiantly not for everyone, and this brand defiantly doesn't just stop at sweet smelling candles. They have a wide rang and variety of all different fragrances, from White tea and Mint, Oriental Rose and Lotus, to Mulled wine, which would be great for the Christmas season.

The website states these candles can burn for up to 50 hours, and only cost £12. They also do Scent Melts, for those of you who prefer to scent your home that way, and they have an option of buying gift cards, which would be great as a Christmas gift.   

I really suggest that you check these candles out, I love burning candles during the winter and these are definably in my top picks.

Fall Clothing Haul.

I have been really trying to up my clothing game lately, I feel like I have a bunch of summer clothes and nothing suitable for the colder months. So when payday came around I thought I would purchase a some things and these are a few of my favourites, and just a little taste of what I bought.

First of all, I own one pair of jeans, which is totally ludicrous. I ended up throwing a lot of my clothes away when I was travelling around America as my case became far to heavy to carry, which meant the clothes suitable for colder weather all went in the bin. So I thought It was probably time to buy another pair of jeans. I picked this pair up from Primark, I actually like the jeans they sell and they have a fairly big variety of styles, they even do petite! which is great for me and my miniature legs haha. These jeans are really soft and light, which makes them more comfortable to wear, and they only cost around £10. 

The next thing I also purchased from Primark, and that is the bag. My last bag basically broke so I needed to buy a new one. I spotted this bag and just fell in love. It has a fake leather and suede effect, with a long adjustable strap. It is the perfect size for me to hold all my junk in and it looks very clean and smart. This also only cost around £11 odd, which is a barging.  

The next two purchases are from H&M, I love the jumpers they sell and they are always a reasonable price. I saw this salt and pepper style jumper from the other side of the store and did a half run, shuffle style walk straight to it. I probably looked like a mad women but I just got so excited. This jumper costs £12.99 and is a perfect length on me, its soft and looks so good and effortless with just a simple pair of jeans.

While I was in line to pay for the jumper my eyes landed on this shimmery silver bag, I guess I am like some kind of magpie. It is £2.99 and I thought it would be perfect for a little make up bag and would look great in my new black bag, so of course I had to say yes (I was right, It does look great).

I think my next purchase will be a pair of ripped black jeans, another jumper (you can never have to many jumpers) and a coat. If you have any suggestions of great stores or online shops, please let me know.

Winter essentials - skincare #2

Facial skincare

For most people, winter means dry skin. For me, who has normally oily/combination skin, winter leads to my skin becoming difficult to manage. It become irritated, dry and spotty all at once.

So I feel like the best essentials for winter skin are those that will hydrate and repair skin, such as Cosmetic Lad and Skin drink moisturiser by Lush. Ultrabland is another soothing and heeling product but this is a facial cleanser and I swear by it.

Drop of Youth by the body shop is a facial serum that really helps to make the most out of your skincare routine. It helps to smooth out the skin and make it look glowing. which is great as skin can look dull during winter.

I also added Johnson facial moisturiser to this as its a cheap facial moisturiser that comes in a huge rang of   formulas for different skin types and concerns. 

Body skincare

Body care is often overlooked in winter, people focus more on how their skin looks during summer. I personally feel like my skin needs a lot more maintenance during winter. I'm prone to getting chapped, sore and dry skin from the cold air, which can be painful. 

I like to use Ro's Argan body conditioner on my legs, its designed to be used the same way as a hair conditioner but on your skin. I use it as a shaving cream, which makes my legs feel so soft after use. 

I also use all over my body a body lotion/butter. My favourite are the Body shop ones, but as a poor student I have to just settle for Boots Extract body butters. 

My new found love is Garnier hand cream, its great to pop in your bag and apply through the day. It keeps my hand hydrated and soft during the harsh cold weather of winter. 

Using all this combined I can keep my skin under control. I know many people have the same problems as me and cold air and air con can really dry out skin, so its best to keep the skin hydrated and looking great for the party season.
