PhytoKeratine Repairing Serum for Damaged Lengths.

This hair serum is another cheeky purchase I got while in America, just like the O.P.I. nail polish I talked about here. When I was in the States my hair became really, REALLY dry from all the sea salt, chlorine from the pools and just general hair neglect. Lets face it I was having way to much fun to care about my hair. So because of that I found myself running into Sephora to try and find something, anything, that would make my hair look and feel even a tiny bit better, without having to put much effort into it at all. This product is a Silicone and Paraben free hair serum designed to repair damaged ends, which is exactly what I have. The website states that this product contains Amino Acids and Keratin which help to rebuild and re-strengthen the hair from the inside out. As its Silicone free it means its not simply just coating the hair to mask the appearance of damaged ends, but working deep inside the follicle to help rebuild and restructure the hair. 

I have neutrally dry hair that has also been Ombred, therefore the ends have been bleached, making my hair even more dry. I have to admit that I am also guilty of not using heat protectors on my hair which means the ends are in a seriously bad condition overall.

I didn't think much could help my hair, other than a hair cut really, but I bought this serum anyway. You can use it on either damp or dry hair, and I do both. I actually apply a whole lot more than suggested as well, but as my hair is so dry it doesn't make it greasy at all. Now don't get me wrong, I still desperately need a hair cut but this product actually made my hair look, and feel a lot better. Before I used this my hair was really dry and frizzy at the ends, now I have used this regularly my hair feels a lot smoother and looks more tamed, like I have actually made an effort. Which is a total lie because I can never be bothered to even brush my hair, let alone style it.

Bed head- Urban anti-dotes level 3 shampoo and conditioner

The combination of over dying my hair and winter weather caused it to becomes really dry, I had recently run out of shampoo and conditioner at the same time so was in dire need of something new. I got googeling and stumbled across this Bed Head pack, its the level 3, for seriously damaged hair shampoo and conditioner set. I bought it off Amazon for roughly £12, the set came with a 200ml conditioner and a 250ml shampoo.

Bed head (TIGI) is a salon brand that is raved about in the blogging world.  This brand has a massive rang of products and this particular set, urban anti-dotes, comes in three levels of intensity, depending on how damaged your hair is.

I have fallen in love with these, they leave my hair feeling amazingly soft. The condition of me hair feels like it has drastically improved and it looks far more healthier. It has become shiner and much less dry, which is exactly what I was looking to achieve. They have also lasted a great length of time, I have been using them for around a month and still have over half of both left. Defiantly a must have for someone suffering from over processed, over heat styles and generally dry hair. 

Winter essentials - hair care #4

During the colder months my hair becomes unbelievably dry, between that and all the rain we have my hair can become unmanageable, frizzy and out of control. I have chosen a few life saver products to share.

First of all, I think during winter a good conditioner is needed. I'm loving the urban anti-dotes bed head conditioner. I find due to the fact my hair becomes really dry from the cold air, I need to have a conditioner that will to maximum benefit. I also follow that with a leave-in conditioner for extra moisture. My current favourite is by Umberto Giannini.

In the UK winter equals rain, when it rains my hair becomes really frizzy, so I like to use a serum to try and counter act that. When its warmer I usually let my hair dry naturally and don't do much styling to it at all. But as the months get colder, it becomes far to cold to sit around with wet hair, so I then blow dry it and make sure I use a heat protecting spray to make sure I don't cause to much damage to it. 

I find combining all four of these products my hair looks and feels 10xs better, it becomes more manageable and much more hydrated, shiner and healthier looking. These are my winter hair saviours. 

Toni and Guy reconstruction mask.

 I recently drastically changed my hair colour, I decided to go bright blonde which involves bleaching the hair (and we all know that is not good at all). I then decided a week later that I hated it and re-dyed my hair a darker shade of blonde, this obviously isn't recommended as bleach seriously damages hair and then dying over it days later just causes even more damage. So when I decided I was going to dye my hair for the second time in a week I thought I needed something that will prevent my hair from becoming to damaged. This Toni and Guy hair mask was ideal, its not to expensive at £7 and its really easy to get hold of if I wanted to buy more, as toni and guy is stocked at Boots, Superdrug and various other high street stores as well as online. 

I use this mask twice a week, some times leaving it on for a few hours and other times just leaving it on while I shower. I coat the ends of my hair and let is soak in. I find this mask works well at moisturising and hydrating, my hair is naturally dry, so bleaching it just made it 10xs worse and this mask helped to add back the lost moister. I found when using this mask my hair actually felt soft, it helped to prevent breakage and split ends as well as making the over all condition of my hair look really good. I really feel like this mask helped save my hair from what could have been a potentially a very bad situation. Its affordable and lasted me roughly 2 months. I would say this is a very good inexpensive product and im really glad I tried it. 

John Frieda frizz-ease hair serum.

For those of you who don't know, I have naturally curly, frizzy and coarse hair, so I am always on the hunt for products that help my curls look less frizzy and more defined. I was looking for a heat protection initially but then noticed this product, it is a hair serum that  is designed for medium to coarse hair  types to help eliminate dry and frizzy hair, as well as having heat protection built in.

This product is an award winning serum that claims to repel humidity and leave your hair glossy and silky smooth. You can also use this product if you were going to straighten your hair, to help give a more sleek finish to it. It also contains UV filters so really help protect the hair. 

How to use

You apply it to soaking wet hair, it suggests using it in the shower after shampooing and conditioning, but I use it after I have gotten out. You use one pump giver or take, depending on hair thickness and length. You apply it to your hands and work through your hair, making sure its distributed evenly. It suggestive that you use it sparingly and avoid the roots, so you don't make your hair to greasy from the oil. You can then either leave your hair to air dry like I do, or blow dry it. 

My thoughts

I find this product really helps to define my curls, it looks very shiny and sleek without making my hair feel or look greasy at all. I find one pump/one and a half pumps is enough product for my hair, it doesn't leave it feeling sticky, or hard. It doesn't weigh my hair down and makes my hair look so much more tidy, like iv put a lot of effort into making it look nice (even though I haven't) 

I would really recommend this serum to people with naturally/chemically treated curly hair, as that type of hair can tend to look very frizzy, dry and over all messy. This product is so easy to use, very fast and very affective. As long as you don't use to much or apply it to your roots you cant really go wrong. They also sell different formulas for those with very curly hair, and one for all hair types. Its a 2 in 1 product that's ideal for people who like effortless hair or just don't have time to be fussing about with lots of different products.
